How it started
The battle of little round top started on July 2, 1863, (second day of the battle of Gettysburg) One of the troops was the 20th Maine. that was only one of the 2,996 Union troops that fought at little round top. they were the extreme left flank of the Union army. they are famous mostly because of their charge without any guns, and captured about two hundred people. those two hundred Confederates were only a fraction of the total casualties of the battle of little round top.
ABout the Battle
There are few reasons the battle of Gettysburg started. For example; the Confederates were heading there because Lee wanted to push the Union away from Richmond, Lee thought there wouldn't be a lot of troops in the east, and they needed supplies like shoes. Actually the battle started on accident when the Confederates went onto Gettysburg looking for shoes when they met the Union army. And within the battle was the Battle of Little Round Top.
How it Ends
While the battle of Gettysburg was a big win for the union army, they suffered many loses. this victory will always be remembered for the staggering amount of casualties, the people who died, and the members of the 20th Maine.
